Bass & Noise Music
by Laurentius Kollmann

Genre
Bass & Noise
Bass & Noise music combines drum loops with groovy bass lines and the spicy granular texture of noise music. Most of the melody is played by electric bass guitar solos. The chords are often reduced to its root note.
The core of this rhythm-driven sound is the electric bass guitar, but the ambient drone synthesizer creates random noises to spice up the composition and create a unique, unreproducible sonic texture.
The result is bizarre but danceable soundconstructions that arise in an organic process and are also the result of many random factors.

Artist
Composer and Electric Bass Player Laurentius Kollmann
As an electric bass player, the groove is the basis of my compositions. The groove provides the magic that makes our bodies move.
I have been taking music lessons with Andi Bauer (Musikwerkstatt Augsburg) since 2017 and started my bass and noise music project in 2022.
The main task of the bassist and the drummer (rhythm section) is to give the piece of music the groove. The low frequency of the bass instrument is closely related to the rhythm of the drums. Both form a groovy unit. The bass instrument also provides the harmonious framework.

Set Up
The Gear
My music equipment represents a sound system that adds groove, texture, harmony and melody to the music tracks. The setup is suitable for both recording and live performances.
To perform bass and noise music, I use the electric bass guitar, various amplifiers, a pedal unit, an analogue drone synthesizer and an audio midi sequencer.

Tracks
From Rock‘n Roll to Bass & Noise Music
I have been producing bass & noise music tracks since 2022.
There are now a whole series of different bass and noise tracks that show up the range of sounds this style of music can cover.
But it is also the documentation of an evolutionary process and I am excited about the future results.
